When painting somebody's portrait, it's psychological. Through meeting the person concerned in his own environment I obtain a general and deeper impression. This is essential as to be able to show the nature of that specific person in my painting.
On the other hand I also make sketches and photographs, but I do not just copy a photograph. I use it as a resource.
